Ian told me the other day how much he would like to catch a triple digit yellowfin tuna. It got me thinking about how much fun it was to watch Joe catch his first marlin because I knew how much he wanted it (especially after he put me in the marlin club first near Bimini by handing off the rod when we thought we had a sailfish.) So tell us more about your fish wish list in the comments below. And by the way Ian, this underwater picture was taken near La Paz.

My wish list: Kickin back with a G&T while listening to Kenny, with blood stained hands, while the fly spool cools down. Kitz
ReplyDeleteNice Kitz. By the time the G&T is done, the chum bag will have done it's work and it will be time to dance with a few sharks. (I'm making the zzzzz reel noise right now.)
ReplyDeleteMake that G & T a Bimini G & T and trade that spooled Fly reel for a 70 VSW and you've got something. You'll get it figured out Otis. Bring it on!
ReplyDeleteStill pining for a Wahoo, believe it or not. I have no idea how many offshore species I have caught, but can't count a Wahoo among them. Also would love to catch a Black Marlin one day. They seem quite a bit more rare than the blues. Nice Blog Andy! Sedg
ReplyDeleteYes Bill, the wahoo have a great second run. And yes Joe, a Bimini G&T, also known as gin, can have the amazing ability to make four fisherman oblivious to a huge bird pile until they are in the middle of them. I'll go with yellowfin. I'll always remember that 70 pounder off Abaco and would like to do that again. So in the water with the lucky cedar plug please.
ReplyDeleteAndy, you're gonna have a rough time choosing a "lucky" Cedar Plug. I must have 20 of them by now! If I had to guess though, I'd put you on a natural 8".
ReplyDeleteI'd kinda like another monster Blue, on a borrowed rod. Well, I'd really rather not have to borrow a rod EVER AGAIN.....Thanks Yellow Air Taxi.....NOT!!!!! Another 6 hour, 9 mile fight would be near the top of my book. Joe - Got and Pakula Sprokets in Frigate handy?
ReplyDeleteSix hours by yourself this time? We'll have to bring the beer holder helmet to keep you hydrated.
ReplyDeleteThe tripe digit yellowfin does top my list. Wahoo are a close favorite; but a lit up dolphin like the one bill caught in cherokee sound could be the ultimate. It sounds like there is a lot of chumming and pitching that goes on in the La paz area. Six hours or not I will need a beer helmet!!
