Sidebar: Snorkeling is Allowed

I'm sure we will have a few moments of down time in a La Paz anchorage - maybe the one pictured here. Yes a few rare minutes in between the offshore gaff fest and the inshore night lip pull will offer a great opportunity for snorkeling. If you have a mask and fins, certainly bring them. Just hold off on that chum bag Dave - until we are all out of the water please.

  1. Ahhh the memories. Like the time that barracuda eyeballed Joe off of Indian key, trying to figure out who was bigger and if he could fit Joe into his mouth. Are there barracuda in the Sea of Cortez?

  2. I am not too worried about the cudas; but I will not be in the water much with these guys around. Check out the link, I couldn't get it to copy but if you type it in or go to mexfish and search great white!!!

Great White Shark, Carcharodon carcharias: From Vince Radice of the Sonoran Sport Center in San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico, these photos of a great white shark estimated to weigh over a ton, which was caught by commercial fishermen in a trawling net near Isla San Pedro Martir, Sea of Cortez, Mexico. Said Radice, "I use it in my shop to show people when they ask if there are any sharks in the Sea of Cortez." Photos courtesy of Vince Radice.

  3. Y'all know me. Know how I earn a livin'. I'll catch this bird for you, but it ain't gonna be easy. Bad fish. Not like going down the pond chasin' bluegills and tommycods. This shark, swallow you whole. Little shakin', little tenderizin', an' down you go. And we gotta do it quick, that'll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin' basis. But it's not gonna be pleasant. I value my neck a lot more than three thousand bucks, chief. I'll find him for three, but I'll catch him, and kill him, for ten. But you've gotta make up your minds. If you want to stay alive, then ante up. If you want to play it cheap, be on welfare the whole winter. I don't want no volunteers, I don't want no mates, there's just too many captains on this island. Ten thousand dollars for me by myself. For that you get the head, the tail, the whole damn thing.

  5. Dandy. Now I'm thinking I'll be snorkeling in about a foot of water. Or maybe I'll just stick my face off the swim platform.
